Please hold the date for a virtual town hall with District 1 Vice President Trainor regarding the massive public investment into broadband:

We want to use this opportunity to inform telecom members about major developments in the telecommunications industry.

The Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act includes $65 billion for State broadband programs. Each state will receive at least $100 million, and many will get much more to expand access to broadband and build-out to unserved and underserved areas. This could be a MASSIVE investment in our jobs, our families, and the future of our union, but we need to fight for it. 

Where that money goes and how it’s spent is up to our state legislatures. We need to fight for strong labor standards that ensure the creation of good union jobs for our members. Otherwise, there’s a real danger all that money and work could go to providers that use non-union contractors and leave CWA members out of this groundbreaking project. Please see my recent op-ed in Times Union.
