CWA Local 1122 Wednesday August 13th 10am

CWA District One has notified us that Verizon has declared a surplus in our force adjustment area six (6).  The job classifications and the number declared surplus is as follows:

Driver A         1

To alleviate the surplus condition the Company will invoke the Force Adjustment Plan (article 55) of our current collective bargaining agreement.  This surplus condition has been determined by the Company to be due to process change.  The provisions of the respective Force Adjustment Plan articles 8(b) and 10 will not apply in this case (meaning NO Layoff).  If the surplus condition requires the use of the Enhanced Income Protection Plan under step three (3) of the Force Adjustment Plan article 55, EIPP offers will be tendered to those employees in the surplus titles and force adjustment areas involved by Tuesday, August 19th.  An employee's election to leave the service of the Company and receive EIPP payments must be in writing and transmitted to the Company by Tuesday, September 2nd.  The off the payroll date for those employees who accept this offer will be Sunday, September 21st.

The 2014 Labor Day Parade and Picnic is scheduled for Monday September 1st at Cazenovia Park in South Buffalo.  The parade will begin at 12noon with the picnic to immediately follow.  Express your solidarity for the labor movement and join us for great food, live music, and entertainment.  For members who would like to march with us we will meet at the corner of Abbott and Stevenson St. at 11:30am.  We will walk down Abbott Rd to Cazenovia St and on to Legion Dr. and ending at Caz Park.  We look forward to celebrating this day with our family, friends, and sisters and brothers of the labor movement here in WNY.

The CWA Local 1122 Stewards Meeting is scheduled for Thursday September 4th here at our Local Union Hall 3775 Genesee St.  Food is served at 5pm the meeting begins at 6pm.  The agenda will include Officer Reports, Committee Reports, and an open debate over our workplace issues.  All stewards should plan on attending this meeting.

WEAR RED EVERY THURSDAY, Work Safe, Stay United, and thanks for your efforts in support of our rights to the table.

STOP Fast Track for TPP
Call 1.888.966.9836 . . Negotiators are seeking "Fast Track" authority for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which blocks any changes or amendments to the trade deal and only allows for an "up-or-down" vote by Congress. Stopping FAST TRACK is the only real way to change the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Call 1.888.966.9836 and Tell Your member of CONGRESS "As a constituent, I expect you to STAND UP for American workers and VOTE NO on Fast Track for TPP." ............................................................
